Xin Jiang's Taste - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

We found out this restaurant by accident. We happened to be in the area checking out a badminton court New Vision Badminton Court. Since it's close to lunch time we decided to stop by there.

The place is located in a residential area and had no sign whatsoever. I happened to see a couple came out from a house. Hubby was still looking at his navigation when I asked him what's the house number. He looked a bit confused. Then I asked him could it be that house where I saw a couple just came out from.

When we walked in I noticed plastic curtain hung over the entrance just like the one used for walk in refrigerator at a supermarket. When we walked in there was a young girl asked us how many people then pointed us to a table.

In the front area just after the entrance I could count about seven tables which could fit about 28 people. But it seemed that the inner part could fit a few more tables ?

We were given two menu and a piece of paper for ordering. The menu was pretty simple but it conveyed the message with lots of pictures. Each picture had a corresponding item number which we could then identify on the order paper. Very simple but smart.

We ordered a small spicy chicken with a naan, an order of beef dumpling and a stir fry cabbage with lamb. We liked bbq lamb skewers but it's not available here.

The restaurant was about to get super busy as more people coming. Some were waiting outside as well. We got our food in a pretty decent amount of time. It's a good sign that the kitchen has the flow going.

The dumplings were smaller than we expected but bite size and juicy. The beef inside could get a bit chewy bit. The stir fry cabbage was delicious. The style was a bit different from what I expected. It had some sort of spice in it but not too strong. I saw pieces of cut up tomatoes, perhaps as base ?

The last plate turned out to be a surprise. The spicy chicken plate was huge. First I was pretty confident that we could finish it. As we dug in some more I realize no way we could finish this plate. So a small plate of spicy chicken came with a piece of naan. I was wondering where was the naan. Turned out that the naan was cut up in small piece and fried together with the chicken. Interesting. It's tasty, a bit spicy but delicious. Definitely more chicken meat than the one we had in Chongqing. Less dry chili too. Or perhaps Xin Jiang's style is different ?
